In the 25 years since Renault Kangoo created the ludospace (leisure MPV) segment, with its class-leading design, practicality and the first sliding side doors, the Renault Kangoo still keeps up with the times and has retained its pioneering spirit.
It is also a unique success story – since 2011, Renault has sold more than 4.4 million Kangoos in 50 countries worldwide, while the electric version has been extremely popular in its segment. It has the best of both worlds – a car for families with its elegant design and spaciousness, and a car for professionals due to its spacious luggage compartment and durability.
The Renault Kangoo range, which has improved over the years and constantly introduced innovations, now also includes a longer version – the Grand Kangoo.
ALL THE ADVANTAGES OF THE KANGOO, ALL THE INNOVATIONS AND MORE SPACE
The new Grand Kangoo is as practical as the standard version, with all the safety equipment and conveniences that increase comfort:
· three neat seats in the second row and two in the third, which allows you to comfortably seat seven adults and makes this car more spacious than any other in this category;
· the largest radius in its class at knee height for third-row passengers (164 mm);
· more than 58 liters of available storage space, including an Easy Life sliding drawer and underfloor storage trays in the second row;
· The 500-liter luggage compartment in the seven-seater version can be expanded to 3,750 liters, excluding the rear seats and folding the front passenger seat;
· five “true”, independent rear seats that slide, fold, recline and remove, providing up to 1,024 seat configurations;
· 3.11 m cargo length, folding the front passenger seat;
· 14 driver assistance features that enhance safety, including Level 2 autonomous driving.
Like the Kangoo, the interior design includes a dark wood-finished control panel, a comfortable cabin and improved ergonomics. The control panel has been upgraded to include certain E-Tech data for the electric version.
Access to the third row is facilitated by two 83 cm wide sliding doors (18 cm wider than the Kangoo), a low door sill and folding seats in the second row. Practical, because it is easier to get in and out with other passengers (adults or teenagers) or to insert a child safety seat, securely fixing it with Isofix fasteners.
Grand Kangoo can be used for any purpose. Available with a glazed liftgate as standard, but can also be fitted with hinged rear doors and 2/3-1/3 glazing for easier access to the luggage compartment – especially when headroom is limited.
The spacious interior is ideal for families looking for a car for regular use with seven large seats and provides maximum comfort for passengers of all sizes.
This car is also ideal for childcare professionals as it has five seats with Isofix mounts, ergonomic places for children in safety seats or on booster seats, it can be used for transport on demand as it can accommodate seven adults comfortably and each seat can be easily moved or changed configuration (for example 2/2/2) so that passengers can settle down even more comfortably.
The new Grand Kangoo E-Tech Electric’s new 45kWh (fully usable) lithium-ion battery has eight independent and easily repairable modules and gives the engine a range of up to 265km in WLTP mode – fully sufficient for most daily journeys, with low costs for the owner and to the user.
Stopping at an 80 kW DC charging point for 10 minutes can recover 80 km of range.
These batteries are guaranteed for eight years or 160,000 km. During this time, they are replaced free of charge if their capacity drops below 70% of the “optimal condition”.
The new Grand Kangoo E-Tech Electric is powered by a 90 kW engine with 245 Nm of instantly available torque, so it drives smoothly in all situations. You can switch to Eco driving mode, which reduces power to 56 kW and limits the car’s speed to 110 km/h, optimizing range.
You can choose any of three regenerative braking modes:
· Sailing (B1), which provides limited regeneration and is most effective in free-flowing highway traffic;
· Drive (B2) – pre-set regeneration mode for different situations (the reaction when you lift your foot from the brake pedal is similar to a car with an internal combustion engine);
· Brake (B3) – provides maximum regeneration and is most effective in traffic jams and driving on mountain roads.
The conventional hydraulic brake system has ARBS (Adaptive Regenerative Brake System) which maximizes energy regeneration.
Different combinations of traction and braking modes complement the six different driving modes, optimizing comfort and range depending on your driving style and traffic conditions.
All information about the driving mode you have selected, electric power management and driver assistance systems can be viewed on the 10-inch fully digital and individually customizable optional color control panel.
To ensure maximum range in all seasons, the new Grand Kangoo E-Tech Electric has an adjustable dual-zone climate control system with a heat pump that heats the cabin in winter and cools it in summer, using the same principle as a directional air conditioner. The heating system collects calories from outside the car and brings them inside, while the cooling system removes calories from the passenger compartment.
The heat pump works optimally when the temperature is between -15 °C and +15 °C. It not only provides first-class climate control, but also ensures a range of up to 30 km, as it does not heat the passenger compartment only with heating resistors that use energy from the traction battery.
Finally, the Grand Kangoo E-Tech Electric has an additional heating system, in the windshield, front seats and steering wheel, which provides even more comfort in winter with minimal impact on the battery.
The new Grand Kangoo E-Tech Electric has two types of chargers:
o 22 kW fast AC charger that can charge the battery from 15% to 80% in 2 hours and 40 minutes;
o 22 kW AC – DC 80 kW charger (standard), which provides an additional 170 km range in 27 minutes.
With such a range of chargers, all the driving requirements of Grand Kangoo E-Tech Electric users are met.
In addition to the 22 kW charger, the battery has a liquid cooling system and electrical resistance that ensures the right temperature to maintain range and shorten charging time.
Finally, the MyRenault smartphone app or the Renault Easy Link multimedia system (standard) for the new Grand Kangoo E-Tech Electric provide certain connected services, such as:
· scheduling battery charging and remote battery status monitoring;
· scheduling the heating or cooling of the passenger cabin before the trip;
· helping you find charging stations on your route;
· helping you find destinations you can reach with remaining battery power.
This model will also be available with two types of internal combustion engines according to the latest emission standards (Euro 6E):
· 130 HP gasoline BVM6 or EDC7 engine – versatile, dynamic, fuel-efficient even when carrying seven passengers;
· diesel 95 hp BVM6 engine – efficient and economical.
The new Renault Grand Kangoo range will include three versions, developed according to the exact wishes and needs of customers:
· Authentic – with all the necessary equipment for companies or customers who want to use their car for both private and business trips;
· Equilibre – for local governments that want to provide convenient and economical passenger transport services with a positive impact;
· Techno – for families and traders who want complete comfort and safety standards, expressive design and practical equipment, such as roof rails for convenient installation of the roof luggage compartment.
The Grand Kangoo comes standard with electrically adjustable rear windows, rearview camera, easylink multimedia screen and connected services from the Authentic level onwards.
Ordering will begin at the end of this year, while delivery will begin in early 2024.
