Madrid has already released the keys to the 2023-2024 flu vaccination campaign that will start in the second half of October.
It was last July when the Governing Council of the Community of Madrid gave its approval for the acquisition of 1.6 million doses of the flu vaccine for this year’s campaign, with an estimated investment of 18.9 million euros. This amount ensures coverage of the demand of the target population, considering that 1.4 million doses were administered in the region in the previous campaign.

Who should wear it
The campaign’s target audience is people over 60 years of age, as well as, for the first time, the child population between 6 months and 5 years of agein addition to the people who are part of risk groups. The latter include individuals with chronic diseases, pregnant women, health professionals, workers in the social and health field, caregivers and personnel who perform essential functions, among others.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes the importance of vaccination against influenza at the beginning of the campaign, during the autumn season, both as a preventive measure to avoid respiratory complications and hospitalizations associated with the influenza virus, such as to prevent the spread of the virus to vulnerable people.
How to request the appointment?
Like last year, the vaccine is expected to be available at a variety of locations, including Health centersSERMAS clinics, both public and private hospitals, Municipal Community Health Centers of the Madrid City Council, the Vaccination Center of the Community of Madrid, accredited private medical centers and other institutions, such as nursing homes and penal institutions, among others.
