“Games of the Senses” Concert Series by Gundars Āboliņš and Andrejs Osokina in Latvia

From September 17, the literary-musical composition “Games of the Senses” by actor Gundars Āboliņš and pianist Andrejs Osokina, which premiered this summer at the House of Black Men at the Osokina Freedom Festival for Ukraine, will be shown in concert halls in Latvia. The concert series will start in Riga at the Ola Foundation cultural space and will continue elsewhere in Latvia, including Ulbrok and Ķekava.

Initially, the program included piano music by Ukrainian and Latvian composers, interspersed with poetry from the new collection “Unplayed Texts” by musician and sentimental collector Ainars Kneš, manager Daiga Bināne said. In cooperation with the cultural space “Ola Foundation”, the two artists have enriched the program with romantic piano music dedicated to the future wife of the German composer Robert Šūmanis, pianist Klara Vīkas, and poems from Jānis Grot’s cycle “Letters of Pēr Gint to Solveig”.

“”I want something a little clean…”, as the poet Arija Elksne writes. Half a year ago, I received the manuscript of Ainar Kneš’s collection of poems “Unplayed Texts”. I felt the inner musicality of these poems, because the author himself is also a professional musician, and besides, we have a similar perception of life and a sense of humor. Although I have no stage experience as a poetry speaker, I feel good in the composition that we created together with Andrej Osokina. Andrejs has delicately complemented the mood and thoughts expressed in the poetry with piano music by Latvian composers. This concert program is proof that a work of art does not always have to be born in agony,” said Gundars Āboliņš.

Andrejs Osokins adds: “I am very happy that the collaboration with Gundars Ābolinų, which began during Osokin’s Freedom Festival for Ukraine, continues and together we will perform in concert halls in all regions of Latvia. We have expanded the “Senses Games” program, which is also dedicated to Per Gynt’s love for Solveig and Robert Schumans’ love for his future wife Klara, creating a diverse and comprehensive range of feelings and giving the listeners joy, wisdom and warmth of the soul.”

“Games of the Senses” will be performed: on September 17 at the cultural space “Ola Foundation” in Riga, on September 19 at the Culture Center “Ulbrokas pērle”, on September 24 at the Latgale Embassy “Gors” in Rēzekne, on October 5 at the Dole People’s House in Ķekava, on October 7 at “Zeit” in the creative quarter in Līgatne, on October 8 in the cultural space of the restaurant “Akustika” in Valmiera and on November 3 in the Talsu Town Hall.

Several ambitious solo concerts of Andrejs Osokina are also expected soon. On September 16, after a long break, the pianist will return to Ventspils concert hall “Latvija” with a concert program dedicated to the composer Ferenc Liszt. At the concert, the pianist will also play Liszt’s music on the concert hall’s unique vertical piano, which Andrejs Osokins will play for the first time. On the other hand, on September 30, a concert dedicated to the composer Frideric Chopin will be held at the House of Blackheads, which is already sold out.

Tickets for Gundars Āboliņš and Andrejs Osokins’ “Games of the Senses”, as well as other concerts of Andrejs Osokins, are available at “Biļešu paradīze” ticket offices and on the Internet.
