About to celebrate the second anniversary of the eruption of the La Palma volcano, the island is suffering another emergency due to the fire which began at dawn on July 15 in the Tijarafe area.
Melania Martín, coordinator of the Emergency Project of the La Palma volcano of Cáritas Diocesana de Tenerife, tells, in this video, how the entity “is operational to respond to the needs that arise of this new situation and the demands of the people who have been affected”.
Some of these people, as Melania explained to us, were victims of the volcanic eruption of 2021. “At Cáritas we are contacting the people who were affected by the eruption and who had moved to live in the area where the eruption has now taken place. fire. We try to find out about their situation, how they are, what new needs they have now…, because some of them have had to leave their homes with what they are wearing. The fire has brought back many painful memories to the people of La Palma”, concludes this worker from Cáritas Tenerife.
