Jakarta –
Maybe the names of billionaires from Indonesia such as the Hartono family, Low Tuck Kwong, to Prajogo Pangestu have been heard quite often. The assets they have can reach hundreds of trillions.
Most of the names above and other Indonesian billionaires reached that point at the age of 60-80 years. However, it turns out that there is one of the richest people in Indonesia who became a billionaire at the age of five.
Ciliandra Fangiono is the youngest billionaire in Indonesia with assets of US$ 2.2 billion or the equivalent of Rp. 33.65 trillion (exchange rate of Rp. 15,298).
Ciliandra is the CEO of First Resources, a palm oil company registered in Singapore and has plantations in Indonesia. His father, Martias, founded First Resources in 1992. Currently, his family owns the majority of shares in First Resources.
It is not surprising that Ciliandra Fangiono became a billionaire at a young age. It is known that First Resources has 200 thousand hectares of plantations spread across Riau, East Kalimantan and West Kalimantan.
Ciliandra was first included in the list of the 40 richest people in Indonesia by Forbes magazine in 2009. He is still very young, namely 33 years old. At that time, Ciliandra’s assets had reached US$ 710 million or the equivalent of Rp. 10.8 trillion (exchange rate of Rp. 15,298).
Most of Ciliandra’s wealth came after his family announced his oil palm plantation company in 2021, namely FAP Agri which is controlled by his older sister, Wirastuty.
Prior to joining the family business, Ciliandra worked at the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch, Singapore. His education was no joke, he was a bachelor of economics at Cambridge University. While studying there, he was awarded the Price Waterhouse Book Prize.
At the moment Ciliandra Fangiono managed to rank as the 20th richest person in Indonesia according to Forbes at the age of just 47 years.
