A group of parents from Chetumal joined the demonstrations of rejection of the textbooks of the New Mexican School that have been given in Quintana Roo, as recently happened in Chiquila, Cancun y Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
This Monday morning, the group of people arrived at the facilities of the SSecretary of Education of Quintana Roo (SEQ) in the state capital, and expressed their rejection of textbooks with the slogan of “Science yes, ideologies no!”as well as banners with the legends:
“No one is obliged to obey an order that goes against their conscience” and “SEP, do not steal: Do not eroticize children innocence, do not encourage early sex, it is exposing them to sexual abuse. Don’t promote transsexualism let boys be boys and girls be girls.”
Andrea del Río Martínez, a self-styled representative of civil society, indicated that they focus on providing legal advice to parents with minors in primary schools, so that families can protect themselves and avoid the use and distribution of textbooks.
He pointed out that dissatisfied parents can contact them via Facebook through the page “A New Freedom” and start with counseling.
“There are already several parents who we advise and help with the protection, so that they arrive with the document at school and prevent their children from being forced to use textbooks.”
He expressed that in the state capital they advise 10 parents, but as the days go by they do not rule out that the number increases.
The demonstrators also exhibited cardboard with the legends “EDUCATION WITHOUT INDOCTRINAMIENTO”, “The children belong to the parents, not to the government!” and “RESPECT FOR THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION. SCIENCE IF IDEOLOGIES NO!
Carlos Gorocica Moreno, head of the Secretary of Education of Quintana Roo (SEQ) asked for calm in the face of the demonstrations of rejection of the Textbooks and assured that people enjoy all respect since they have the right to disagree.
He invited the demonstrators to analyze the new educational content, because for the most part, it is the product of ignorance of the topics that today places the authorities and society before conditions different from the traditional ones.
