From what was revealed a few days ago, the idea was to represent Miku with a representative of each of the 18 types of pokémon that exist. In the case of Meloetta she’s a Normal/Psychic type, at least in the way she’s depicted, which is Air Shapes. It is a pocket monster that is closely related to music, at least in one of its appearances. So there is nothing strange about seeing Meloetta beside Hatsune Miku in this art.
There are supposed to be 18 designs in total and they will be released little by little until September 28. Taking into account their number, this means that some of them will leave the same day. At first I thought it would be a daily one but I don’t think that’s the case. The next one is likely to be available in the evening due to the time difference. On the aforementioned date, the second part of the Project VOLTAGEwhich will be musical themes.
Talking a bit about the design of Hatsune Miku con Meloetta it really is lovely. Take decided to share an additional illustration where you can see Miku from the side, from behind or in profile.
