The Cycle of Aggression: From Sympathy to Ridicule

It has happened again. Someone (usually a woman) experiences some type of aggression or microaggression. The public reacts at first by siding with this person, and soon the matter takes a political turn that turns into a joke where self-centered, opportunistic, cheeky and trollsters flourish. The older one is, the more cases it knows.

After the moment of supreme earning by Rubiales, the hashtag #SeAcabó arose, where athletes and sports journalists told us that the atmosphere of the industry is similar to that of the bar of a highway brothel. Soon the case of cultural environments emerged. Nothing new that has not happened and has been justified throughout life. Sympathy is a facilitator of disrespect, and the good manners of the one in front of you is the catalyst.

By adding vital experiences you learn to see the liar, devious, and opportunist at a distance. The cynic who gloats from his immense face of reinforced concrete. The unpresentable ones you’ve seen laugh at the most macho, racist, homophobic graces. The disgusting ones who laughed at beggars, one-eyed men and prostitutes or who ridiculed the mental instability of some unhappy person.

They are always the ones in the front row of the protests. There you will see them, writing soflamas and filipicas, acting as spokespersons for political parties. They will never see you, for example, when there is a problem at work. And the worst thing is that they will always do well, because the rabble has a code of honor so as not to be the next Rubiales. A pact between wolves in sheep’s clothing.
