Actor and director Mathieu Kassovitz, known for the film The fabulous destiny of Amelie Poulain, is not in danger of life after the motorcycle accident he had on Sunday. His family said through its spokesperson that the operations went well on Monday.
Kassovitz has had surgery on his ankle, leg and hip. “Mathieu is now going to recover. He has to rest and rehabilitate,” his family reports.
The 56-year-old actor was taken to hospital in “worrying condition” on Sunday. The single-vehicle accident happened on the Montlhéry circuit, south of Paris. The actor wore a helmet while driving, so his head was not seriously injured.
In addition to his acting work, Kassovitz also garnered success as a director with the film Hatred from 1995. For this he was awarded the Golden Palm for best director at the Cannes Film Festival.
