Williams F1 Team Earns Points in F1 Italian Grand Prix with Strong Performances by Alex Albon and Logan Sargent

The Williams F1 team was the result of Alex Albon 7th and Logan Sargent 13th in the F1 Italian Grand Prix final race on September 3rd. This is the first time that Albon has brought back points from two consecutive races in his career after moving to Williams.

“We came to Monza thinking we could score points on our strength, and we did it,” said Dave Robson, head of vehicle performance.

“The hot conditions were not ideal for us. This is one of the challenges we have to address and we are working to improve the situation.”

“Both drivers performed very well despite the high degradation and hot conditions.”

“Alex had another great run, keeping the McLarens behind him all race long. It’s a shame we didn’t finish within five seconds of Lewis[Hamilton]but after a strong performance in qualifying we were in position. Losing only one is a great result.”

“Logan did a really good job, and at one point it looked like he was going to be in the points.

“Having said that, the experience I gained from racing on soft compounds on a hot low-downforce course is really valuable. It will help me in Singapore in two weeks.”

Finals: 7th place
Start: 6 digits

This was probably the toughest race I’ve ever had, but at the same time the one I’m most proud of. It may not have been fun for Lando, but I enjoyed it!

I knew it would be a tough race with a lot of tire degradation. I was a little bit slower than I expected ahead of the weekend and on lap four I thought it was going to be a tough fight but I tried my best to keep the guys behind.

We chose the used medium and hard tyres, which made the race difficult for us, but I don’t want to do this race again. But I am super happy with the result.

I’m really happy to have scored points for two races in a row. It’s amazing how far we’ve come since we started.

The next few races won’t be easy, but for now I want to soak in the afterglow.

Logan Sargent
Finals: 13th place
Start: 15 digits

It was a difficult race overall. I changed to hard tires early and aimed for a one-stop, but considering the machine balance during the race, that stint might have been a little long. In the end, it was not possible to put the car in the optimum window.

It was difficult to keep on the hard tyres, and I suffered from oversteer. If we had been able to get the car in the window, we might have been able to hold out until the end.

I want to work hard for the next race, look at the settings to make the car work well, and try to keep a good pace.

In the 2023 F1 Round 15 Italian Grand Prix final race held at Monza Circuit on Sunday, September 3, Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who started from the second grid, won 10 consecutive victories. Second place is Sergio Perez (Red Bull). Pole sitter Carlos Sainz slipped onto the podium in 3rd place.

The next race, the Singapore GP, which will be staged on the Marina Bay city course, will kick off with free practice 1 on September 15th.
