Invías routine maintenance and road administration program has $168,000 million

With the objective of preventing the progressive deterioration of the state of the national road network in 30 departments of the country, the National Institute of Roads, Invías, invested more than $168,000 million in the road maintenance program through routine maintenance and road management. In this way, the entity ratified its commitment to improve connectivity and vehicular traffic in the national territory.

With the implementation of the maintenance project on the road network of the different highways in the country, about 2,814 jobs, for road administrators and micro-entrepreneurs who are distributed in 9,024 kilometers of national highways, through 311 contracts.

Some of the road intervention activities that will be carried out are patching with asphalt mix, crack sealing, signal replacement, scraping, pruning and felling of trees, cleaning of berms, ditches and sewers, emergency care and removal of landslides, allowing Thus, better vehicle fluid, more safety on the roads for drivers and for those who transport essential products and supplies, among others.

Álvaro Ruíz, deputy director of Comprehensive Management of National Highways of Invías, pointed out that the work being carried out is intended to provide safety to drivers on the country’s highways. “The benefits of this program are the result of hundreds of people who work on our roads, who are attentive to the damage that may occur, generating early and preventive alerts to take care of road users as well as the environment and providing care timely in risks and emergencies that may arise”.

“The social results of the program are widely favorable because it has generated direct and indirect job opportunities, entrepreneurship, integration of women, ethnic, racial, and Afro groups, and support for groups of low-income people, managing to foster a sense of belonging for the ways”added the deputy director.

The company maintained that in the second half of this year, seven selection processes were carried out through a merit contest, which included an investment of $26,577 millionwhich was allocated for the hiring of road administrators, which gave rise to 70 new contracts that are in the process of legalization.

In the same way, for routine maintenance, 27 selection processes are under development, which have an investment of $49,555 million, that will allow 251 contracts to be carried out for an estimated execution period of four months, beginning in September.

The company pointed out that, together with the national government, they work to guarantee employability, therefore, through future periods, for a value close to 700,000 million pesos, tenders will be opened at the end of 2023 to cover this program in the next three years and guarantee the routine maintenance of the corridors in charge of the Institute.
