The Superior Communication Council (CSC) held a discussion session with media professionals from the city of Bobo-Dioulasso. It was under the leadership of CSC President Abdoulazize Bamogo on August 25, 2023 at the Western Regional Delegation of CSC.
Faced with the danger that threatens our country, we must show responsibility in the choice of words when we express ourselves in the public space. This concern is primarily addressed to media professionals with regard to the confidence they enjoy from the Burkinabè public. Because the media is a double-edged sword. Indeed, if used well, they strengthen the links within society and create the conditions for better living together. But, misused, they stir up conflicts and can be the source of social disasters.
In view of the great fragility of our country at present, expressing oneself through the media with responsibility is an imperative. It is with this in mind that the CSC organized this framework of exchanges with the heads of the media of Bobo-Dioulasso. According to Abdoulazize Bamogo, president of the CSC, “We have drawn up seven points of attention intended for media players to better take into account the social responsibility of the media in a context of security crisis, social tensions and political transition”.
The CSC invites those responsible for the media to contribute to strengthening the unity of the nation, to motivating the national fighting forces, to the resilience of the Burkinabè people and to the establishment of formal frameworks for discussion and validation of related information. to the security crisis within their respective newsrooms. In addition, he calls on journalists to avoid the publication of information likely to harm the general interest, to always take official information into account.
On this occasion, Mountamou Kani, Editor of the Bobolais daily newspaper L’Express du Faso, was made ambassador of the CSC for participatory regulation in Bobo-Dioulasso. To this end, the president of the institution entrusted him with two essential missions. First, the ambassador must work to promote the ten councils of the CSC for the benefit of Burkinabè citizens. Secondly, to work so that the populations resort to the CSC in the event of a problem with the media/journalists instead of attacking the latter.
The now CSC ambassador, Mountamou Kani, says he is honored to receive this title. But he says he places his trust in all media officials and journalists in Bobo to meet the challenges that await him. He says he is available to accompany the CSC in the context of the tasks entrusted to him.
