Flu Vaccine Administration for Children in Navarre: Preventing the Spread of Influenza

Navarre goes to facilitate the administration of the flu vaccine to a new group, that of children from 6 months to five years. The measure was adopted in several autonomous communities last year and is now being extended to the rest of the country, as in the Autonomous Community.

In all, about 28,000 children under 5 years of age will be able to get vaccinated within the framework of the annual campaign against the flu financed by public health and whose objective is to prevent this disease.

Every year, more than one hundred thousand people receive this vaccine in Navarra within the campaign, mainly over 60 years of age and people with chronic illnesses as well as professional groups such as police, firefighters, etc. In the case of children, the vaccine was administered until now under medical indication in children with risk factors.

However, since this fall parents may choose to inoculate this vaccine to the little ones since, according to the experts, the flu is not a risk-free disease and, furthermore, in the little ones it can lead to hospital admissions.
