Introducing the Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain: The Perfect SUV Alternative with Ample Cargo Space

Do you think an SUV is too much of a good thing, but would you like a large cargo space and a car that allows you to send your passengers and their luggage through the mud without any effort? Then this brand new Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain might be your ideal automotive companion.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class debuted as a Limousine and was also presented as an E-Class Estate a few months later. During the IAA in Munich we will be introduced to the more adventurous variant of the latter. This is the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain. Not surprisingly, it simply follows the concept of its predecessors.

The Mercedes-Benz E-class All-Terrain has standard air suspension and stands up to 4.6 centimeters higher on its legs than the regular E-class Estate. From a speed of 120 km/h, ‘the E’ also drops 1.5 centimeters to reduce consumption somewhat. It has 4Matic four-wheel drive as standard and, just like the regular E-Class All-Terrain, it naturally offers plenty of luggage space. You can store 615 to 1,830 liters in it. Unless you opt for a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Then you have to settle for 460 to 1,675 liters.

From the outside you can recognize the E-class All-Terrain by its greater ground clearance, but also by its front. It is the only E-class that has not one or three, but two horizontal slats in its grille with the logo in the center. The All-Terrain version has specific bumper work at the front and rear, skid plates and dark gray wheel arch edges. The sills are also slightly different from those of the less adventurous E’s. In the interior you will find AMG sports pedals and All-Terrain floor mats.

The Mercedes-Benz E-class All-Terrain will come to the Netherlands in the first quarter of next year. You can choose from three engine versions. It comes as an E 220d 4Matic with 194 hp (+23 hp) strong mild-hybrid 2.0 four-cylinder, as a 381 hp (+23 hp) strong mild-hybrid E 450 4Matic with 3.0 six-cylinder and as a plug-in hybrid E 300de 4Matic. The latter has the same 197 hp 2.0 diesel engine as the E220d, but is supported by a 129 hp electric motor that raises the system power to 313 hp. You can drive it electrically for up to 102 kilometers. Dutch prices will follow later.
