At around 8:10 p.m., the Grou and Mantgum fire crews were urgently called due to a fire in a snack truck. Several ambulances arrived on the scene to provide first aid to the people who were injured. They were taken to hospital for further treatment.
Bystanders thought they had heard an explosion and that gas bottles might have exploded, but that turned out not to be the case: according to the fire service, it was an exploding car tire.
When the fire broke out there was a village festival going on in Reduzum and so many people came to watch in the Haedstrjitte. Police cordoned off the area to make room for emergency services. Around 9 p.m., the fire service reported that the fire was extinguished.
