Thousands of Euros Donated to Owners of Plane Vandalized by ‘Last Generation’

Thousands of euros were donated to the owners of a plane sprayed by the ‘Last Generation’. The insurance pays for the damage.

After a paint attack on a private plane by “Last Generation” activists, people have donated thousands of euros – to the plane owners. According to the Association of General Aviation (AOPA Germany), crowdfunding has been initiated. In a statement, the association announced that a total of 6,791 euros had been collected and transferred to the aircraft owners.

In May, climate activists of the “last generation” invaded the capital’s BER airport. They then spray-painted a private Piper Aztec plane with orange paint.

That’s how much it cost to clean the plane

The propeller plane belongs to six men from Denmark. One of them said in an interview with AOPA Germany that the owners are not millionaires, but “a group of six normal people from all walks of life”. The cleaning and repair of the aircraft after the “Last Generation” campaign cost a total of 72,000 euros.

According to the Aviation Association, however, the insurance company pays for this damage. According to the owners, she initially refused to make a payment, but then explained “that in our case they will make an exception and make our payments.”

Activists of the “Last Generation” have invaded airports several times in the past. In July, climate activists also sprayed orange on a private jet at Sylt Airport. According to their own statements, the activists wanted to use the actions to denounce the fact that rich people emit a particularly large amount of CO₂.
