Heavy Rain Causes Flooding in Medan, North Sumatra

Heavy rain hit the City While, North Sumatra (North Sumatra) since this afternoon. A number of points were reported submerged in floods.

“For now there are puddles in several areas. It started raining heavily at around 18.00 WIB. There are several (vehicles) residents who were hit by a strike and were evacuated,” said the Head of BPBD Medan City, Husni, as reported by Antara. detikSumatraSunday (3/9/2023).

Husni said BPBD was still monitoring the flooded locations. The water level is up to 100 cm.

“We are still monitoring several flood-prone points in the city While as well as others. We will inform you later,” he concluded.

The following areas were flooded in Medan:

1. In Kampung Aur, Jalan Letjen Suprapto was inundated with water with a height of 20-40 cm. Local residents are still living in their homes.

2. On Jalan Gatot Subroto, in the Carrefour area to be more precise, water was inundated with a height of 50 cm.

3. On Jalan Dr Mansyur, to be exact in front of the USU Hospital, there was water stagnant with a height of 20-60 cm.

4. On Jalan Perjuangan, Medan Sunggal District, there is 50-100 cm of water stagnant. There were a number of residents who were evacuated because they were trapped in the flood.

5. On Jalan Ir Juanda, Medan Baru District, there was 20 cm of water stagnant. Residents are still living in their homes.

6. In the Beringin Village, Medan Selayang District, water was inundated as high as 80 cm. Residents are still living in their homes.

7. On Jalan Abadi, Medan Sunggal District, water was inundated up to 100 cm. Currently, there are several residents who were evacuated because they were trapped in the flood.
