The Ministry of Culture, the Artists Syndicate in Syria, and the cultural and musical community mourned the musician Amin Al-Khayyat, who died today, Sunday, at the age of 87, after a struggle with illness.

The late musician embraced and took the hand of many male and female singers who became stars, making him a difficult figure in the world of Syrian and Arab composition and music composition, according to what was reported by the Syrian News Agency, SANA.

The late composed hundreds of lyrical works in various forms, from the poem to the taktuqa and the muwashshah, and the dialogues of the great Syrian and Arab singers, including Sablah Fakhri, Sherifa Fadel, Maha Sabri, Samira Tawfiq, Mustafa Nasri, Elias Karam, Maha Al-Jabri, Faten Hinnawi, Alia Al-Tunisia, Fahd Ballan and others.

He participated in composing lyrical and dramatic works about the lives of singers in the past, including Ziryab and Al-Mawsly. He also composed many theatrical works, including Sour Grapes and (Tora nor Naksh).

Al-Khayyat received medals, awards and certificates of appreciation from the Syrian Arab Republic and from the countries of Kuwait, Jordan, the Sultanate of Oman, Libya, Morocco, Egypt and the Emirates.

Al-Khayyat’s artistic activity went beyond music to administrative work. He worked as the head of the music department on radio and television, the captain of artists for four sessions, a consultant for the Radio and Television Corporation, the director of the Syrian Song Festival, and the secretary of the Film and Television Industry Committee for two sessions, and he was invited to participate in the presidency or membership of festivals’ arbitration committees. And singing and music competitions in the Arab world.
