Ammon – The coastal plains are low and flat areas located near the coasts, and their formation and characteristics are affected by the presence of oceans or seas on their sides. Coastal plains are usually between watery places and hills or mountains. There are two main types of coastal plains:
Plains resulting from the continental shelf: This type of plains is formed when the ocean level is lower than the land level near the coast. This leaves behind a continental shelf below sea level. An example of this is the western coastal plain of India, which stretches between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats range.
Plains resulting from sedimentation and sediment: This type of plains is formed when sea currents carry sediments and sediments with them and accumulate them on the coast of the region. These deposits are usually dirt, rocks, and organic matter. These sediments form multiple layers over the years, which leads to the formation of coastal plains.
The coastal plains possess multiple features and important economic resources, including sandy beaches, sand dunes, and mudflats. It can be used to set up factories and process coastal products, provide housing, and use it to manufacture and recycle products.
It is worth noting that the coastal plains are of great economic importance, providing resources such as agriculture, fishing and ports, and serving as centers for trade and economic development. They are also considered habitats for human life and contribute to food and energy resources.
Examples of coastal plains include the eastern and western plains of the Emirates, and the Atlantic coastal plain of North America. These areas have unique characteristics that enhance their ecological and economic importance.
