Vandalism at Restos du Coeur de Wattrelos: Impacting 20,000 People and Repercussions on 80 Centers

Stupidity has its reasons… which reason ignores. On Friday, two individuals broke into the site of the Restos du Coeur de Wattrelos in the North and ransacked twelve association trucks.

According to The Voice of the North which relates the facts, the two men attacked the refrigerated trucks of the association which helps the poorest, in particular destroyed the windshields and seemed to “have fun” with hydroalcoholic gel, according to the CCTV footage.

It was an employee who, alerted by the alarm, put an end to the carnage. The thugs will have remained in total nearly two hours on site.

20,000 people impacted

Thierry Sarrazin, the president of the departmental platform, explained that these degradations will have many repercussions on the some 80 Restos du Coeur centers that the Wattrelos site usually irrigates. “More than 20,000 people will already be affected as of next week. It’s sad. We hope to bounce back quickly.”

Already in 2016, in Wattrelos, eleven trucks of the association had been set on fire by an individual.
