The government plans to increase funding for local governments by approximately 10 million euros, so that they provide support to the people of Ukraine, according to information on the “TAP” portal of legal acts.

On March 28, 2023, an order was issued granting the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (VARAM) funding that does not exceed 21,788,249 euros in 2023 to cover the expenses incurred by local governments in providing support to the population of Ukraine, including providing accommodation and meals .
Now the government plans to increase the funding, not exceeding 32,152,527 euros, in order to continue to cover the expenses incurred by local governments, providing support to the people of Ukraine.
The Minister of Finance will have to inform the Budget and Finance (Tax) Commission of the Saeima about changes in the appropriation, and if the Saeima Commission has not raised any objections within five working days after receiving the relevant information, changes in the appropriation must be made.
