Tragic Accident in Kakamigahara: 90-Year-Old Woman Dies in Collision with Roadside Signboard

On August 31, in Kakamigahara, Gifu Prefecture, a 90-year-old woman in the back seat died after a light passenger car collided with a roadside signboard.

On the evening of August 31, on a prefectural road in Unuma Higashimachi, Kakamigahara City, a light passenger car ran over a curb and collided with a signboard on the side of the road.

Sekiko Ito (90) from Kakamigahara City, who was riding in the back seat, was transported to a hospital, but was confirmed dead about two hours later. Her daughter, 59, who was driving her, suffered a minor injury to her left arm.

According to the police, Mr. Ito was on his way to the hospital with his daughter and was wearing a seat belt.

The scene is a straight road with one lane on each side just north of JR Unuma Station, and the police are investigating the detailed cause of the accident.
