Showed, among other things, an 83″ OLED TV, several MicroLED screens, a Mickey Mouse TV (!) and several new 98″ models.

As usual, Samsung is showing a wide range of TV screens at this year’s IFA fair. Among other things, we got to see a larger selection of MicroLED TVs, which are now being rolled out in a wider range of screen sizes – 76, 89 and 101 inches, in addition to the 110 inch that is delivered today. The prices are not yet clear, but considering that the 110″ model costs one and a half million(!), these will still be expensive TV screens for those with thick wallets. We can only hope that this exotic technique will eventually come down in price, because the image quality is truly extreme!

More 98-inchers: Neo QLED QN990C (8K) and QN90A (4K)
Samsung also showed the 98QN990C, which is a 98″ MiniLED LCD monitor with 8K resolution. We have written about it before, and now it is making its debut in Europe. Samsung is also showing the 4K model 98QN90A, which also has a MiniLED backlight. These will be somewhat more expensive than the 98Q80C that we have already tested. It is currently uncertain when/if the 8K model will arrive in the Nordics, but considering how popular this huge screen size has become, it shouldn’t surprise us.

Disney version of The Frame
Here we also got a glimpse of the new “Disney100” version of Samsung The Frame that was announced last week. It comes with, among other things, an exclusive photo gallery, framing with the Disney logo, and a “Mickey Mouse” inspired solar-powered remote control.

83″ OLED TV
Another TV that got a lot of attention is this 83 inch OLED TV, the TQ83S90C. The largest model in the S90C series to date is the big brother of the 77″, 65″ and 55″ S90C that we have tested previously. However, since Samsung Display does not produce QD-OLED panels in this size, it uses an 83″ WOLED panel from LG Display instead.
It is somewhat controversial within the TV industry that the two South Korean producers – who are still strong competitors – have begun to cooperate on panel deliveries. Having said that, it is not unusual for TV manufacturers to source LCD and OLED panels from different factories.
Anyway: The Samsung TQ83S90C has a nice and slim design, and otherwise a lot in common with the smaller models in the S90C series, including a Neural Quantum Processor 4K video processor, Dolby Atmos compatibility, HDMI 2.1 connectors with associated functions (eARC, ALLM, VRR, 4K/120), not to forget Samsung’s Tizen operating system, with support for game streaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming. As usual for Samsung TVs, there is no support for Dolby Vision HDR, but the HDR10+ format is supported, which is slowly but surely becoming more widespread.
The Samsung 83″ S90C has already been launched in the US, and at IFA it was announced that it will also come to Europe. But it is currently unconfirmed whether it will also come to the Nordics.

The Freestyle 2nd Gen
A new version of the portable projector The Freestyle – 2nd Gen – was also launched for Europe. The mini-projector can project images “anywhere” and on difficult surfaces, but still achieve a geometrically correct image. The new generation also comes with a “Smart blending” feature where you can connect two projectors to create an even larger image (up to 160 inches). This finesse will be rolled out to both the 1st and 2nd generation of the projector during the year.
