Paddy Procurement: MoU Signed for 280 Crore Rupees Loan to Pay Rice Price Before Onam

Thiruvananthapuram – Food Minister G. R. Anil said that the MoU was signed to take a second loan of 280 crore rupees from the banking consortium with the aim of paying the price of rice stored in the 2022-23 season in full before Onam.

Distribution is in progress even after Onam. Canara Bank disbursed Rs 15 crore to 2830 farmers on Saturday. State Bank of India disbursed Rs 57.32 crore to 486 farmers. Although Sunday is a bank holiday, the respective branches of the State Bank will remain open to disburse funds to the farmers. The Minister also said that the State Bank has informed that Rs 40 crore will be transferred by Monday.

The minister informed that 14,000 people in Kottayam district have received the Onakit given to yellow ration card holders so far and the kits will be distributed in the district on Monday.
