Russian Journalist Allegedly Publishes Materials from Foreign Agents and Antagonizes Russian Policy

The Russian Ministry of Justice in Moscow said that the well-known journalist published materials from foreign agents, and also used foreign platforms to publish opinions aimed at forming a negative attitude towards Russian foreign and domestic policy.

Muratov is the editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta, which is often critical of the government.

Since the outbreak of the Russian war in Ukraine, Novaya Gazeta has moved its work abroad.

Muratov, 61, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021 in recognition of his fight for freedom of expression, and Russian President Vladimir Putin actually threatened him at the time and said: “If he covers himself with the Nobel Prize as a shield for violating Russian laws, then he is doing so consciously. If he does not violate Russian laws and does not provide a reason for declaring him a foreign agent, we will not do so.”
