MTA Work on F and M Train Tracks Causes Interruptions and Changes

According to the MTA, work is being done on the tracks of the F and M trains that run between Queens and Manhattan, which will cause interruptions and some changes.

With them, they seek to make the train service more reliable for some 150,000 users who use these lines daily.

The works are related to track replacement to extend the useful life of the existing infrastructure.

From very early on, users were affected by these changes, one of them was Noemí Morán.

“What is the solution they gave you? In order to get to the 102 for Roosevelt Island, it is the only one that takes me there because yesterday they put a bus… ”, she explains.

Some of the changes are as follows:

· The “F” train will run on the “E” train line between Rockefeller Center and Jackson Heights.

· There will be no “M” train service between Rockefeller Center and Forest Hills. There will be special bus service to Lexington Ave. and Queensbridge.

· Another special bus service between Roosevelt Island, Queensbridge and Queens Plaza.

Edgardo Buitrago had problems getting to work…

“People have to go to work on a weekday, today is Monday, you have a route to get to work.”

And the desperation was evident at the possibility of arriving very late…

“You have to do something positive brother because people don’t know there is no train today there is no train tomorrow it is something very confused dad”, adds Buitrago.

The MTA will have teams at the stations and installed signs to inform the community of the changes for the duration of the project that is not expected to be ready until at least the spring of next year.

And although it is true we did see some MTA staff helping but they were impossible to attend to all the users…

“If it weren’t for you, I don’t know why the train at that stop doesn’t work, I have to take another train to go home,” says Justo Prado.

Likewise, from now on the MTA will begin with a more frequent service of the N and R trains that will now run every 8 minutes and not every 10 as before.
