TRIBUNNEWS.COM – A new comet named Nishimura will pass by Earth in September 2023.
This comet was first discovered by Japanese amateur astronomer Hideo Nishimura on August 12, 2023.
At that time, he was taking long exposure astrophotography with his camera.
Although invisible to the naked eye, a 200mm f/3 telephoto lens mounted on a 20.2-megapixel CMOS digital camera revealed comets that had escaped the observatory’s detection.
Since then, C/2023 P1 Nishimura has increased in brightness and its path through the inner Solar System has been determined.
Quoted from NASAwhen Comet Nishimura dives towards the Sun, it is likely that it will continue to grow.

This allows Nishimura’s Comet to be seen with the naked eye.
Even so, NASA said Comet Nishimura will be close to the Sun at an angle, allowing the comet to be seen before sunset or sunrise.
The comet will be so close to the Sun – in the orbit of the planet Mercury – that its core may rupture.
So, can Nishimura’s Comet be seen in Indonesia?
Collect Kompas.comresearch staff of the Bosscha Observatory, West Java, Agus Triono said, Comet Nishimura will be at the closest point to Earth on September 12, 2023.

On that date, said Agus, the Nishimura Comet will be visible to humans from Earth, including Indonesia.
However, said Agus, this comet is not easy to see and can only be observed in the early hours before sunrise.
“As long as the sky is dark enough, minimal light pollution, and uses adequate instruments, such as good binoculars, a telescope, and knows the direction of the comet,” said Agus.
