Criticizing has always been fixed in the mind of each Cuban from birth. We are critical by nature, either out of malice, envy or simply to try to get the future of their new company to turn out better for whomever we spit the “mockery”.
However, such a characteristic of differing –constructively or for worse– regarding the quality of a service or some good, is not always positively welcomed by those who receive it, and at that precise moment they become a face-up cat to defend their own.
I am not saying that the previous response is wrong as a conditioned reflex, only that sometimes we are more aware and attentive to what potentially can or tries to harm us, than to what we do wrong or should rectify to evolve in our endeavors.
And I say this because most of the time we are not at all receptive to the criticism that is made of us. On the contrary. Our response is always focused on “bunching up” and sometimes defending the indefensible.
But the matter does not just end there. Faced with valid or truly explanatory reasoning, we do not take long to respond aggressively like a wild rapier; or worse, we stick to justifications or conformism.
The previous positions, in equal measure, tend to pigeonhole us in that nothing is wrong. As a result, we fail to understand that “planting a shield” does not allow us to see the objective reality, let alone focus on finding solutions to the difficulties recognized and raised by third parties.
Of course, these lines do not point to the day-to-day of the personal, but rather to public officials; leaders of the different levels, or in its last modality, to the owners of small private companies.
Such figures, by rule or mere intelligence, should understand that the accusations hurt, but a bad treatment, service or response given to the person requesting hurts more. And as our Army General Raúl Castro Ruz said: “It is necessary to keep your ear glued to the ground.”
Yes, perhaps someone will reply that sometimes the judgments or criteria used can be malicious or due to some unhealthy quarrel or envy; However, in the same way, they should always be listened to and analyzed, because, paraphrasing Miguel de Unamuno, whoever says that he knows everything, absolutely everything, imagine how stupid he would be.
The truth is that beyond marked misunderstandings or discomfort, the popular criteria are rarely mistaken about certain services or goods offered.
That is when we must calm our minds and think that, at that precise moment, there is no greater harm than acting defensively, responding with superior tones, or taking even more harmful countermeasures.
Faced with an adverse opinion scenario, true intelligence and maturity will then lie in taking notes, giving the benefit of the doubt and attending to the indications with an accurate vision.
We must, therefore, be intellectually superior and shrewd to detect what or what are the reasons that provoke the comments or incisive feelings towards our efforts or companies, whatever their nature.
Then, analyzing the real scenario and taking ducts on the veracity of what is put forward will then be the trump cards.
Let us always succumb to the “humility” of a criticism. Acting defensively will only throw upon us childishness and inability not to see beyond our own noses.
Responding and acting consciously in the face of any personal or public damage, always corresponding to the civic and citizenship principles of our country, will always mean visualizing a more prosperous tomorrow for all.
