Alan Drillot: From Triathlete to School Principal, Challenges and Projects at the Elementary School Les Bruyères

He did not have time, Friday, September 1, to stall a long session of running; his watch connected to the fluorescent yellow bracelet did not indicate excessive physical activity.

However, Alan Drillot, 32, triathlete and trailer, has multiplied his trips in the corridors, the classes of the elementary school Les Bruyères in Saint-Denis-en-Val.

“A new challenge”

A race against time for the director. “It’s a new challenge.” And it will not be easy to meet in this establishment of 125 students divided into five classes. The function is dense. Very dense. He quickly understood this on Friday.

“This pre-entry day allows you to think about school life, projects, distribute administrative papers, set up swimming pool slots.”

The opportunity, also, to bring his signature to school life.

So, in the room reserved for teachers, he stirred up dozens of subjects with the four other teachers. It was a question of recreation time, the use of the computer room, the organization of the reception of children in the morning, to validate cultural outings…

“Projects around the Games”

His mailbox is already full. Decisions to make, administrative documents to complete, sports leaders to contact…

Canteens, extracurricular reception… update on the changes, this year, in the schools of the City of Orléans

On the starting line of his new life as school principal, Alan Drillot knows that an endurance test awaits him. “But I’m lucky to have a nice team around me and three teachers who were already there last year. We have great projects, especially around the Olympic Games.”

“The novelty is twofold”

Difficult, however, to leave the apprehension of the re-entry outside the establishment. “The novelty is twofold. Beyond my position as director, this is also the first time that I will have a class (CE1) full time.”

Alan Drillot has only been teaching for two years. He first experienced a first professional life in the audiovisual sector in Paris. “But I had wanted to become a teacher for a long time.” He then extinguished his television ambitions; he embraced those of teaching at Sallanches. Two years of multiplying replacements in Haute-Savoie.

The peaks of the Alps no longer attracted him even if the pleasure of skimming the passes by bike on his days off still carried him. Alan Drillot, whose childhood was built in Ormes, maintained the hope of returning quickly to Loiret. It will be in Saint-Denis-en-Val.

New school, new functions. And if he sometimes feels the need to reassure himself, he can always count on his wife. “Manon is director of the Courtil-Loison kindergarten in Saint-Jean-de-Braye. I think that at the beginning, we will talk a lot about work at home!”
