In the city center of Agen, in Lot-et-Garonne, you don’t drive, you walk. Since Friday, September 1, this is the new rule in the town. Bicycles and scooters must set foot on the ground to circulate, a relief for pedestrians. “It’s a good thing, because it’s a street in which there is a lot of traffic, young children circulating, elderly people… And when they go fast it’s very dangerous” , rejoices a passer-by in the report at the top of this article.
An opinion shared by another resident of Agen: “It’s good. Because we get into it, bikes don’t care, scooters don’t care…” And the measure is rather well respected, even if some users of two wheels are reluctant. “As long as we pay attention, I don’t see the problem”, says a cyclist. But for those who stay on their gear, it can be expensive: the fine can go up to 150 euros.
