Leonardo Bonucci moves to Germany. Union Berlin presented the Italian defender, who comes over from Juventus, on Deadline Day.

Bonucci has signed a contract until the summer of 2024, with an option for a further season. His role was played out at Juventus. The Italians no longer needed Bonucci, isolated him from the selection and are now letting him go on a free transfer.
Bonucci can form a defensive duo at Union Berlin with Danilho Doekhi, who made a big impression in Germany last season. Earlier this summer, Bonucci was briefly linked to Ajax. He would have been offered in Amsterdam and would have been interested in a transfer himself, but Sven Mislintat was not interested in a transfer.

Union Berlin will make its debut in the Champions League this season. Napoli, Real Madrid and Sporting Braga are the opponents in the group stage.
