Ukraine has not received about 35-40% of Western weapons under contracts, some will be replaced with other deliveries. This was stated in an interview with URA.RU by a military political scientist, director of the Law and Order charitable institution, reserve lieutenant colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Oleg Ivannikov.
“Today we are talking about 35-40% of outstanding contracts. This information is discussed by Ukrainian politicians, as in the light of the latest high-profile corruption scandal in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where sets of warm uniforms worth millions of hryvnias were stolen. Even if we are talking about the fact that the Ukrainian side pays for equipment, concludes contracts, this does not mean at all that it is the entire range of items under these contracts that will be in full. They promise to return the money, but in the form of alternative supplies of other weapons,” said Oleg Ivannikov.
He explained that part of the deliveries are canceled due to the fact that the West is afraid that their equipment will fall into the hands of the Russian military. “The main department of the Russian General Staff is literally hunting for the latest models of weapons. It’s no secret that during the fighting, sometimes unique Western equipment and weapons fall into the hands of Russian military personnel. It is captured or the Ukrainians themselves sell it to the Russian side. To avoid this, our opponents may refuse to supply even at the very last moment, ”said the military political scientist.
According to him, Russia also benefits from the cancellation of deliveries. “The delay in the provision of such equipment, in my opinion, is a good sign for the Russian side, since the lives of Russian servicemen are being saved. The fewer the latest models of equipment in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the more the lives of Russian soldiers and officers will be saved, ”the expert emphasized.
