Building a Better World: Insights from the G20 YEA Quebec Delegation

“The main issue of our generation of entrepreneurs is our responsibility to build a better world.” – Andrew D’Amours

The G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance (G20 YEA) is an annual meeting that takes place on the eve of the Leaders’ Summit. The 2023 edition brought together: “hundreds of the best young entrepreneurs around the world to establish and advance youth entrepreneurship as a driver of economic growth, innovation, and social change “, according to Futurpreneur Canada. The organization is one of the founding members of the event, creating a global network of more than 500,000 young entrepreneurs.

Each member of the Quebec delegation agreed to answer a questionnaire provided by Deals about their experience at the Summit in India.

Questions answers:

What does this year’s theme ‘Hum’ (Hindi word for ‘we’) mean to you and how do you apply it in your business?

To me, “Hum” represents the fact that the whole world is more interconnected than ever. It is the very mission of our company to help Canadians go see the world to become more open-minded, broaden their horizons and see how much we are all humans who want the same things pretty much. You can’t do that by staying at home, there’s no other way than to go out and discover the world.

What did you learn about Indian entrepreneurial know-how during your stay?

Talking to many Indian delegates and listening to local speakers, I found it inspiring to see how resourceful they are. I think it illustrates something that all entrepreneurs should know, which is to never expect perfection and just take action. Indian conditions and infrastructure are definitely not perfect, but the entrepreneurial community is overcoming obstacles by taking action.

In your opinion, what will be the main issues specific to your generation of entrepreneurs?

In my opinion, governments and the state simply fail to solve the problems of society. The main challenge of our generation of entrepreneurs is our responsibility to build a better world. More than ever, this heavy task falls to individuals and it makes the entrepreneurial project bigger than just oneself or one’s company.

What do you think you brought to the Futurpreneur 2023 cohort?

I always try to share my experiences, whether it’s my involvement in the world of startups and entrepreneurship or my many interactions with different cultures through my travels. The key for me is to always provide and offer value to others to help them be better humans. We can all do it thanks to our baggage and our unique experience.

What topic discussed during your participation in the G20 YEA 2023 caught your attention the most and why?

Globalization and the disappearance of borders thanks to technology. It has never been easier to break down these barriers and I sincerely believe that there is nothing more important for any individual than to step out of their comfort zone and explore the cultural richness of each country. .
