National Astronomical Research Institute (Public Organization) (Public Organization) (Dr.), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (Wor.) Reveals the picture of the “Super Blue Moon” on the night of August 30, 2023 at about 8:15 p.m., about 357,185 kilometers from the world. Compared to the full moon in the farthest distance from the world on February 6, 2023 at about 1:40 a.m., the distance from Earth is about 405,813 kilometers, clearly showing the different apparent sizes.
From the night of the 30th to the morning of the 31st of August 2023, the full moon appears the largest in the year, known as the “Super Full Moon” and also the second full moon of the month or the “Blue Moon”. Therefore, this phenomenon is called “Super Blue Moon” is a rare occurrence. When comparing the apparent size of the Moon at its perihelion with that of the Full Moon at its perihelion, It may be up to 14% larger in diameter and up to 30% brighter as a result of the Moon being closer to Earth. Size appears larger In addition, during the early hours of the night, Saturn appears brighter beside the moon as well.
The next “closest full moon of the year” will occur on October 17, 2024, while the next Blue Moon will occur three years later on May 31, 2026.
