Shin Tae Yong asked his main assistant Choi In Cheol to take the lead Indonesian National team senior against Turkmenistan on FIFA Matchday, 8 September. This is because STY will focus on preparing the U-23 Indonesian National Team to appear in the 2023 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification.
September 2023 will be the busiest month for Shin Tae Yong as the coach of the senior Indonesian national team and the U-23 Indonesian national team.
The reason is, the Indonesian National Team and the U-23 Indonesian National Team will have important matches simultaneously.
The Indonesian national team will face Turkmenistan on the FIFA Matchday agenda at the Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, on September 8. Victory in this match is very important for Indonesia to raise the FIFA ranking.
Meanwhile, the U-23 Indonesian National Team will compete in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification which will be held in Solo starting September 6. Indonesia will try to achieve the best results in order to qualify for the first time to the finals of the U-23 Asian Cup.
The training camp (TC) for the Indonesian National Team and the U-23 Indonesian National Team will also be held simultaneously starting Monday (4/9). The Indonesian National Team TC will be held in Surabaya, while the U-23 Indonesian National Team TC will take place in Solo.
Shin Tae Yong also admitted that the burden was quite heavy with the responsibility for the two teams.
Therefore, STY decided to appoint his main assistant, Choi In Cheol, to take responsibility for leading the senior Indonesian National Team to face Turkmenistan.
Meanwhile, STY will focus on preparing the U-23 Indonesian National Team ahead of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification.
“Indeed, I am a bit complicated too, for the senior national team coach Choi who is our main assistant coach [yang akan menangani tim]. So he knows what I want tactically and stuff, so he’ll be in charge of the senior national team. And I will focus more on the U-23 national team,” said Shin Tae Yong after watching the U-17 vs South Korea U-17 national team match in Bekasi, Wednesday (30/8).
