We already wrote that the possibility to send “WhatsApp” images and videos in HD quality has just become available (for some for some time). At the same time, the supported resolution is still far from the capabilities of the best smartphone cameras. Therefore, users could soon get an even better option – to send WhatsApp pictures and videos in their original quality, without compression.
WABetaInfo reports that it has spotted a new feature in the app’s beta version 2.23.18.12 for Android devices that lets you “select original quality photos or videos.” At the same time, it is noted that in this case, WhatsApp will treat images and videos as documents instead of ordinary images and videos. True, even now it is possible to add media files up to 2GB in size as documents and preserve their original quality.
Although WhatsApp launched the ability to send images and videos in HD in August, they are still compressed before sending. The same goes for sending 720p video. Hence, sending images and videos in original quality will be a much-awaited option. The exact time of its release is not yet known, as even beta testers have not yet reached this feature.
