A tourism product has been developed to look back on the traces of the late former President Park Chung-hee scattered throughout Gyeongsangbuk-do.
On the 30th, Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization held a presentation of the travel product, ‘Dream of Cheongun, Park Chung-hee Road’ (hereinafter referred to as Park Chung-hee Road) at Wedding Group Withers Yeongdeungpo in Seoul. About 250 people attended the event, including Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho and Kim Seong-jo, president of the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization.
Park Chung-hee Road is a tourism product that connects former President Park-related tourist destinations in Gyeongbuk by classifying them by life cycle. Former President Park’s birthplace located in Sangmo-dong, Gumi is classified as childhood, Cheongungak Mungyeong, a boarding house where he stayed while serving as a teacher, as youth, and Jikjisa, Gimcheon, which has a signboard written in his handwriting during his presidency, as middle age.
Local attractions such as Gumi Geumosan and Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Parks, as well as the Saemaul Undong theme park and the National Restoration Center, which honor the achievements of former President Park, are also included in the course. Kim Seong-jo, president of the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization, said, “We will make Park Chung-hee Road a historical tourism product specialized for the region.”
