The New York Marathon Announces Lineup of Elite Athletes for Next Sunday’s Race

The New York Marathon to be held next Sunday, November 5, announced a list of elite athleteswhich includes 17 Olympians, 11 World Cup medalists and runners who have won the race as reigning champion Evans Chebet, Geoffrey Kamworor (2017 and 2019), Albert Korir (2021) and last year’s top six.

In the men’s race, the Ethiopian stands out by brand Mosinet Geremew, twice he has been world runner-up and twice he has been on the brink of winning a marathon, but all eyes will be on Evans Chebet, who is looking to repeat his past year with victories in Boston and New York. Among his toughest rivals will be Shura Kitata, the winner of the London Marathon 2020.

Also, with seven women having gone under 2 hours and 20 minutes, the women’s race stands out with the Kenyan world record holder Brigid Kosgei, the world record holder of 10,000 meters and a half marathon and runner-up in the world of the 25 laps in the World Cup in Budapest Letesenbet Gidey, who debuted with a second place last year in Valencia, the Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir, winner in the Big Apple in 2021, the winner last year in London, Yalemzerf Yehualaw, a winner in Tokyo like Lonah Salpeter and a world champion last year like Gotytom Gebreslase.
