Defendant Sentenced to Death for Mutilation Case in Jakarta: Victim’s Family Responds

The defendant Heru Prastiyo was sentenced to death in a mutilation case with the victim Ayu Indraswari (34) at Wisma Jalan Kaliurang (Jakal) Km 18 Sleman, DIY. The victim’s parents, Heri Prasetyo, said the verdict was in line with their expectations.

“(Heru’s death sentence) is according to my wishes,” Heri said when met by journalists after the trial for reading the verdict at the Sleman District Court, reported detikJogjaWednesday (30/8/2023).

According to Heri, the death penalty was appropriate for the defendant. Because the defendant’s actions were inhumane.

He wants this punishment to be a lesson for other criminals, especially mutilators.

“Yes, I want the death penalty to remain. For a lesson for all mutilators throughout Indonesia,” he said firmly.

Previously, the panel of judges at the Sleman District Court sentenced the defendant Heru Prastiyo to death. The verdict trial was presided over by the chairman of the panel of judges, Aminuddin, Wednesday (30/8).
