Translators to the Zone of Games forums was able to access the Starfield files. And, apparently, the chances for the Russian localization of the upcoming news are really No – even Russian fonts were not found in the files.
Recall that initially the Russian language was mentioned on the Starfield page on Steam, but after some time it was removed.
What has become known:
Starfield has 1.7 million words in English (1,703,964 without duplicates) and over 159 thousand lines (159,024) – this makes the game “the largest in terms of text” among Western AAA projects; for comparison: The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim had 47 thousand lines of text, and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion had 30 thousand lines of text; text localization without taking into account the rendering of fonts, textures, and so on was estimated at about 20,252,865 rubles; a small team can handle the translation in two years subject to daily continuous work (at least 8 hours). There are also testing and editing stages, which will take another year or two; one of the translators under the nickname Haoose showed an example of machine translation (with a different font) of the main menu and subtitles.
Starfield, the new space RPG Bethesda, releases September 6 on PC, Xbox Series, and Game Pass (September 1 for deluxe edition buyers). Today started preload game on Steam – download required 116.21 GB.
