On Tuesday at 2309, the emergency services were notified of a traffic accident on Arnatveitvegen in Arna.
– A car drove into the rock wall and into a lamp post, says duty commander at the 110 central, Jostein Steinsland-Hauge, to BA.
There were two people in the car. One was trapped, according to the police.
Two to hospital
Large resources from the police, fire and health services began working on the scene. The emergency services eventually freed the trapped person.
– The two people in the car were taken in an ambulance to the trauma unit at Haukeland hospital, police chief Rune Vedeler told BA on the scene.
The police state that the driver is a woman in her 40s, while the passenger is a man in his 20s.
The extent of the damage is unknown, but the people involved are said to have been conscious when they were taken to hospital.
Leading the charge
The car appears completely damaged. A raised grass slope bears witness to the forces that have been at work.
It seems that the car has driven off the road about 200 meters before the place where it finally ended up. Apparently it hit a rock outcropping and then continued forward with soil, grass and trees in tow.
Car parts were strewn along the stretch of road. The cause of the accident is currently unknown.
– The police have carried out their investigations and spoken to witnesses. Now we want to investigate further to find out what has happened, says task leader Vedeler.
The driver is charged with negligent driving. A blood sample will be taken from her, the police say, adding that the vehicle will be impounded for further investigations.
As a result of the broken lamppost, wires were hanging down over Arnatveitvegen, which runs between Indre Arna and Hardangervegen.
