Tass: Several military aircraft damaged in drone attack on airport in western Russia
The airport in Pskov in western Russia was attacked on Tuesday evening, and four military aircraft were damaged, reports the Russian news agency Tass.
Pskov governor Mikhail Vedernikov writes on Telegram that the Russian defense forces are working to repel a drone attack on the airport, Reuters reports. Videos in Russian media show explosions and smoke.
Vedernikov has also posted a video where you can see a large fire. On the video, you can hear explosions and sirens. Vedernikov writes that no injured persons have been reported.
The Russian news agency Tass quotes the emergency services as saying that four Ilyushin II-76 transport aircraft were damaged in the attack. The airspace above the airport has been closed, writes Tass.
The airport is both military and civilian and is located around 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. It is located in Pskov Oblast, which borders Estonia, Latvia and Belarus.
Tass quotes Russian aviation authorities as saying that the airspace was also temporarily closed over Vnukovo airport in Moscow.
The Russian defense forces say they have shot down three Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk region in the south and one over the Orlov region in the center of the country.
Moscow and other Russian regions have been hit by Ukrainian drone attacks in recent weeks.
