The new Volkswagen Passat will be introduced soon, which will be produced in Slovakia with the new Škoda Superb. We remind you of all the essential information that we know so far.
The official unveiling of the new Volkswagen Passat is literally just around the corner. The Wolfsburg novelty, which will be produced together with the expected new Škoda Superb in Slovakia, will be ceremonially presented in just a few hours. And this is the perfect opportunity to recall all the essential information and news that we can expect from the latest generation of the popular management model.
The new Volkswagen Passat will come to the world on the improved MQB evo modular platform and will be produced exclusively with a more practical station wagon body, commercially named Variant. Volkswagen said goodbye to the standard sedan already at the beginning of last year 2022, when it started preparing space for the launch of the aerodynamic ID.7 electric car.
The German brand has already published information in the past that the new ninth Passat will be larger, more spacious and more comfortable than its predecessors. It will be 140 millimeters longer and the automaker promises to offer 50 millimeters more legroom in the rear seats. The luggage compartment will increase by 40 liters to 690 liters, while it will be even 140 liters more voluminous when the seats are folded down. In total, it will offer up to 1920 liters.
At the same time, Volkswagen entices with a new interior architecture with a newly developed cockpit and a new infotainment system. The new standard infotainment display will be 12.9” and a larger 15” screen will be available as an option or depending on equipment. If you wish, you will be able to choose a new head-up display and the automaker is finally returning to the classic control buttons on the steering wheel. Controversial touchpads will be a thing of the past.
During night travel, the latest Passat in the highest equipment will illuminate the road with a new generation of innovative front headlights with IQ.Light LED Matrix technology. Powerful high-beam headlights can cut through the darkness up to a distance of approximately 500 meters.
Thanks to a more modern platform, the Passat will be presented with a more advanced DCC Pro adaptive chassis with two independent valves in each shock absorber – one regulates stiffness during compression, the other during rebound. The automaker promises better comfort from the improved chassis. Vehicle Dynamic Manager technology with XDS electronic differential lock for better handling, stability and more neutral driving characteristics will also be standard on all Passats.
The Volkswagen Passat will then be sold with four types of engines – TSI petrol units, TDI diesel units, eTSI mild-hybrid petrol engines and the eHybrid plug-in hybrid system. It promises a purely electric range of up to 100 kilometers and will be available with standard direct current (DC) charging for the first time ever at Volkswagen.
The new Volkswagen Passat will be officially presented on August 31, 2023. Immediately after the premiere of the new product, we will inform you about all the important information. The brand plans to launch on the European market in the first quarter of next year.
