Restless personality of Jujuy’s culture, is perhaps an approximate description of Berta Assef, who passed away yesterday in our city. Mainly a writer, she was part of countless literary gatherings, along with colleagues. Her last appearances were at the VIII Festival of the Word in San Miguel de Tucumán in July, and this month, a few days ago, she was the protagonist of the book presentation of the literary group “Las Tres Mosqueteras” at the 19th Fair from the Jujuy Book.
But also, throughout his life he was a French teacher and was part of the French Alliance of Jujuy; specialist in education for people with hearing disabilities specialized in the Model Oral Institute of Buenos Aires; he made radio with cultural proposals of great contribution; she did theater-she was one of the favorite actresses of the director Oscar López Zerrazuza, now deceased, in the group El Carromato-; and a tireless traveler who toured different parts of the world, sucking in each case culture that she later shared in Jujuy with her environment, and in her radio or literary publications.

Regarding her profile as a traveler, the journalist Laura Ballatore -a personal friend of Berta’s- said last year in a note announcing a literary cycle she held at the Casa de las Letras, “she has dedicated a large part of her life to traveling the world and She is one of those travelers who is not satisfied with seeing the landscapes and emblematic buildings of each country. For her, the culture and idiosyncrasy of the inhabitants of towns and cities is central. From each place that she travels, she seeks to take the essence with her ”. The cycle that she announced on that occasion was “Te con Té”, which in each installment had a theme and a guest writer.
The literary group “Las Tres Mosqueteras”, which now lost one of its members, was completed with the writers Sara Argüello and Silvina San Martín. It was formed in the midst of a pandemic, to activate participation in online meetings, and continued with various actions that will remain in the cultural heritage, such as the publication of books, and participation in events, including various editions of the Jujuy Book Fair. “Las Tres Mosqueteras” also participated in numerous anthologies and organized a series of talks on Argentine authors, with the participation of invited speakers.
