Government calls for calm

Libreville, Friday August 25, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – As a prelude to the triple presidential, legislative and local elections scheduled for Saturday August 26, 2023, the Minister of State, Minister of the Interior, Lambert-Noël Matha invited the population to weighting.

More than 846,000 Gabonese voters are expected this Saturday, August 26, 2023 at polling stations for the presidential, legislative and local elections. But all attention seems to be focused on the presidential election where Ali Bongo Ondimba, candidate of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG) presented as the super favorite for having invested enough in the field for more than a year, and Albert Ondo Ossa, candidate of the coalition ” Alternance 2023 ” entered the campaign a few days ago, constitute the main poster of this election.

As a prelude to this election, the government announced a series of measures aimed at guaranteeing peace and security throughout Gabon’s national territory. The Minister of State, Minister of the Interior especially deplored Thursday during a communication “a deleterious climate” likely to “impact the stability of peace” because of certain statements “carrying a rare psychological violence “, “acts of incivility” and “barricades”.

Lambert-Noël Matha also announced the closure of land and sea borders, with the exception of airspace, this Friday evening from 10 p.m. until midnight Saturday.
