Supreme Court to Consider Plea to Cancel State Film Award Amid Allegations of Irregularities

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will consider the plea to cancel the state film award today. Director Lijeesh Mullezham filed the petition alleging irregularities in the decision of the award. But Ranjith, chairman of the film academy, and the academy filed an injunction, demanding that no decision be taken without hearing their side.

Lijeesh approached the Supreme Court after both the Single Bench and the Division Bench of the High Court rejected the petition. It is said in the petition that director Vinayan and others made disclosures alleging that Ranjith had influenced the jury members in deciding the award. Lijeesh Mullezhat is the director of the movie Akashasut Biya.
