What is National Film Day?

More than 3,000 theaters across the United States will join this annual initiative, including the New York City locations of leading chains AMC and Regal.

National Movie Day is organized by the Cinema Foundation, a non-profit affiliate of the National Association of Theater Owners (NATO), and was very well received last year.

In 2022, an estimated 8.1 million moviegoers took advantage of the $3 ticket offer on this special day.

The average movie ticket in 2022 cost $10.53, according to the association. The event became the busiest day for theaters of the year, filling theaters and generating a surge in popcorn sales.

The movies that are on the billboard

This year, National Movie Day is moved up slightly on the calendar and the price of tickets will be $4, which is still an attractive offer for moviegoers.

The August box office has been driven by movies like “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” and the summer box office has topped $3.8 billion in ticket sales, an increase of 16.6% compared to the same period in 2022, according to Comscore data.

The variety of movies in theaters for this National Movie Day includes hits like “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer”, as well as new proposals like “Gran Turismo”, “Golda”, “Bottoms” and “Retribution” (“Contrarloj”). For movie lovers in New York, this is a unique opportunity to enjoy the big screen experience at an affordable price.
