OTTAWA – Former Canadian figure skater Alexandra Paul died at the age of 31 in a traffic accident.
The home association Skate Canada informed about the death of the participant of the Olympic Games in Sochi, where in 2014 she took 18th place in the dance pairs competition with her future husband Mitchell Islam.
Paulová and Islam have been a pair since 2009, and a year later they won silver together at the Junior World Championships. The figure skater said goodbye to her sports career in 2016, completed her law studies and worked as a lawyer. Two years ago, she married her longtime partner and gave birth to a son last year.
