The Chambers of the Prefectures of Ioannina and Heraklion are creating another pressure front for the routing of the Ioannina-Heraklion air connection with their joint request.
With a letter signed by the presidents of the two chambers, Makis Chrysostomou and Manolis Alifierakis respectively, the two presidents ask the Minister of Infrastructure, Christos Staikouras, and the Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni, to solve the problems of the competition and to proceed with the connection. They specifically emphasize that “the routing of this particular flight is very important for both Regions of the country, Epirus and Crete, and the obstacles in the initial tender, which prevent the connection from being made, should be immediately addressed, while the Chambers of Ioannina and Heraklion are at the disposal of all parties to cooperate until the final implementation of the plan”.
In their letter, the two Chambers emphasize the contribution of the connection to the tourism development of both destinations by creating tourist packages, the large student community hosted by the two Universities from Ioannina and Heraklion respectively and finally, the fact that the two capitals of the regions of Epirus and Crete are becoming centers of technological development and innovation, with the establishment of many high-tech companies, so the connection will facilitate the movement of workers.
