How Courtney Jones Overcame Severe Acne and Regained Her Confidence

She cried when she looked in the mirror and hardly dared to go out among people. Then the pipe took on a different sound:

Now 21-year-old Courtney Jones opens up about how she got her life back after several years of major skin problems.

Was bullied

– I couldn’t go out without several layers of make-up on my face. But even then I was terribly ashamed.

That’s what the 21-year-old from Sjeffield, England says to the Jam Press news agency.

As a 15-year-old, she suddenly had an outbreak of acne that came and never went away.

– It itched and burned. In the end, my skin was bombarded with boils and sore pimples all over my face, she continues.

Full furore after this

The teenager was quickly diagnosed with acne – an inflammation of the sebaceous glands in the skin.

According to Norway’s health informatics you can get superficial acne characterized by blackheads, or more serious acne with tender bumps and even large sores that leave scars.

For Jones, it was the latter that became a reality. For several years, she has had large, sore boils and swellings on her face, as well as clusters of pimples that have caused a lot of discomfort.

Jones claims that many fellow students bullied her for her skin:

– They called me “pizza nose”, “meat cake” and other horrible things. I had a hell of a time. People who don’t suffer from acne themselves will never understand how bad it can be, she comments.

Took to TikTok

After years of acne, Jones decided she couldn’t sit back and let her teenage years pass. She had to take action.

The young woman created a TikTok account to focus on the skin problem. She wanted to enlighten the ignorant – and at the same time help others in the same boat.

Weekly, the 21-year-old posts tips and tricks for his 996,000 followers. According to Jam, she has helped many young people who have struggled with self-image and self-confidence due to their skin.

She herself has also come a long way in her skin journey, and tells the news agency that her acne problems have really calmed down.

– I have tested countless skin cleansers and creams. It has taken time, but I have finally found what works for me, she tells Jam, adding that the most important thing is “to love yourself, no matter what”.
